RFMD(R) Ships 20 Millionth POLARIS(TM) TOTAL RADIO(TM) Transceiver; Company Forecasts Strong Growth In Transceivers In 2006
Based upon existing customer forecasts, RFMD expects sequential growth in POLARIS transceiver shipments in the March 2006 quarter. Throughout calendar year 2006, the Company also expects multiple GPRS and EDGE phones will launch featuring its POLARIS transceivers.
RFMD's best-selling cellular transceivers are its POLARIS 2 TOTAL RADIO transceiver for EDGE handsets and the highly integrated and size-reduced POLARIS 2 TOTAL RADIO solution for both GSM/GPRS and GSM/GPRS/EDGE handsets. In calendar year 2006, RFMD expects both products will contribute to the Company's anticipated growth in transceiver shipments.

In a September 2005 report by industry research firm iSuppli entitled, "RF Transmitter Architectures for Next-Generation Mobile Handsets," iSuppli identified open loop polar modulation architecture as the preferred architecture of choice for next-generation EDGE mobile handsets. Open loop polar modulation is the architecture featured in RFMD's POLARIS EDGE transceivers.
